Tags and activity codes

Two lists keep your time consistent. Activity codes suggest what to type as an entry's description. Tags group your clients, projects and people so you can filter by them.

Activity codes

When you click into What are you working on? (or any entry description), Timebun lists your workspace's activity codes. Type to narrow the list; it matches anywhere in the name, so "filing" finds "Court filing".

  • Click a code, or use the arrow keys and Enter, to use it.
  • Ignore the list and type anything you like. Codes are only suggestions.
  • A plain Enter still starts the timer.

Manage activity codes

Admins and the Owner (shown as Portal admin in the app for now): go to Settings โ†’ Activity codes.

  • Add: type a Name and click Add code.
  • Reorder: drag the handle, or use the up and down arrows. Suggestions appear in this order.
  • Rename or delete with the buttons on the row.

Deleting a code only stops it being suggested. Entries already described that way keep their description.

Tags

Tags are your own categories for Clients, Projects and People, such as "Litigation" or "Paralegal". They narrow lists, reports and exports. Nobody outside the agency sees them.

Tags go on clients, projects and people, not on individual time entries. To see time by tag, filter a report such as Team time by tag.

Manage tags

Admins and the Owner: go to Settings โ†’ Tags.

  1. Choose what the tag is For: Clients, Projects or People.
  2. Type a Name and click Add tag.

Then add tags from a client's or project's page, or from Settings โ†’ People, using the tag button (it reads Add tags when there are none). The Used column on the Tags page shows how many records wear each tag. Deleting a tag takes it off all of them.
