See how fast clients are using their hours

Retainer burn-down lists every client who holds, or has ever held, hours with you, and where each one stands. Open it from Reports → Retainer burn-down.

The report is included in Unlimited and Enterprise, and in your free trial; it isn't on Starter. See Timebun's plans.

Read the report

Under each client's name you see which retainers their hours came from. Hours held on the client itself rather than on a retainer don't show a name.

The first three columns cover the date range you picked (the current month by default):

  • Granted — hours added in the period (a plan renewing, a top-up, hours sold).
  • Used — hours drawn from their balance by work in the period.
  • Expired — hours that lapsed unused in the period. Shown in amber when there are any.

The last two look at the whole relationship, not just the period:

  • Left now — the hours on their account today.
  • Since they started — a bar of everything they were ever granted, split into used and expired, and the percentage already gone.

Beside the filters, Used this period and Left overall total the table.

When hours show a badge

Some hours sit in an agreement that isn't running today. They're still counted in Left now, with a badge beside them:

  • Term ended — the agreement's end date has passed.
  • Starts 1 Oct (for example) — the agreement hasn't started yet.

Hours in either state aren't drawn on until the agreement covers today. See How balances work.

Change the period

Set From and To. This report has no other filters: it always shows every client with hours.
