Pay or save a card from a link your agency sent

Your agency may send you a link to pay for hours or to keep a card on file with them. You don't need a portal account to use it. Every link opens a secure Stripe page: you enter your details there, and your agency never sees your card number.

The kinds of link

A payment request for a plan. Your agency is starting a plan (a set number of hours each period) for you. Open the link, check the plan and price, and pay. Nothing is charged, and the plan doesn't start, until you finish on Stripe. After that, the plan renews and is charged automatically until it's cancelled. The link works for about a day.

A link to save a card. Your agency wants a card on file so they can start or renew a plan without sending you a payment request each time. Enter your card; nothing is charged. The card you save becomes the one future charges go to. The link works for about a day.

A payment link for an invoice — for example a block of hours or a move to a bigger plan. It opens Stripe's page for that invoice, showing the amount and due date. The link works for about a month after the invoice is due.

When you're done

For a plan or a saved card, Stripe brings you back to a short page that says Payment taken or Card saved, and "You can close this window." There's nothing more to do: your agency sees it on their side within a few seconds.

For an invoice, Stripe's own page confirms the payment. Hours you paid for are added once the payment clears — usually at once for a card, and up to four business days for a bank debit. Which ways to pay the Stripe page offers is up to your agency.

If something goes wrong

  • You left the Stripe page before finishing. Nothing was charged and nothing changed. You see Nothing was charged, and the link your agency sent still works.
  • The link no longer works. It has probably run out. Ask your agency for a new one.

If you have a portal account, you can also pay invoices, buy hours and manage your cards there. See View and pay your invoices, Buy more hours and Change or cancel your plan.
