Invite clients to the portal
Give someone at a client their own sign-in to the portal, where they see their hours, balance, invoices and messages. Only Admins and the Owner (shown as Portal admin in the app for now) can invite clients.
Send an invitation
- Open the client and go to the People tab.
- In the Users card, click Invite. You can also use Invite someone in the ⋯ menu at the top of the client page.
- Enter their Email and, if you like, their Name.
- Click Send invitation.

Already have them as a contact? In the Contacts card, open the menu on their row and choose Invite to portal — their name and email are filled in for you. Contacts on their own can't sign in; they only receive invoices.
They get an email with an Accept invitation button. The link works for 14 days. When they open it they choose a password (or sign in, if that email address already has an account) and land in the portal.
Before you invite anyone, check which projects they'll see. See What clients can see.
Invite only people who should be able to spend money with you. Everyone you invite from a client can buy hours, subscribe to a plan, change or cancel it and manage the saved cards — with no approval step, on your side or theirs. There's no separate view-only access. See What your clients see in the portal.
Follow an invitation
Pending invitations are listed under the Users card with a status:
- Sent — handed to the mail server.
- Delivered — reached their mailbox.
- Bounced — couldn't be delivered. Fix the address with Edit, which sends a fresh link.
- Expired — the 14 days are up. Use Resend.
Each invitation's menu has Resend (a fresh link with another 14 days), Edit (change the address or name and send a new link; the old one stops working) and Revoke (the link stops working).
Your workspace can send up to 20 invitations an hour and 50 a day, team and client invitations together, including resends and edits. Past that, Timebun tells you to try again later.
Manage people who have access
Everyone who has accepted is listed under Users, with when they last signed in. The menu on each row offers:
- View as … — open the portal as they see it, read-only, until you stop viewing.
- Send password reset — email them a link to set a new password. It expires in 60 minutes.
- Deactivate — remove their access to this client's portal. Reactivate gives it back.
