Review and resend statements of hours

Every statement of hours a client has been sent is listed on their client page, with who it went to and whether it arrived.

Find a client's statements

Open the client and go to the Statements tab, between Time and Invoices. The tab is there for any client that has ever had hours on account; a client that has only ever been billed hourly doesn't have one.

a client's Statements tab

The newest statement comes first. Each row shows:

  • Period — for example 1–30 September 2026.
  • Closing balance — the hours left at the end of that period.
  • Sent to — each address with its state: Sent, Delivered, Bounced, or Not sent. When a statement has been sent more than once, this shows the latest send.

Before the first statement, the tab says when the next ones go out. If statements are off, it says so; turn them on at Settings → Billing → Retainers. See Send clients a statement of their hours.

Open, download or resend

  • View — opens the statement as the client sees it, in a new tab.
  • CSV — downloads its entries.
  • Resend — emails it again to the client's invoice recipients today, with a new View statement link that works for another 90 days.

Resend goes to whoever receives invoices now, not to the original list. If the client has no invoice recipient, Timebun asks you to mark a contact Receives invoices on the People tab first. See Client contacts and invoice recipients.

Use Resend when an address shows Bounced or Not sent, after you've fixed the address, or when a client asks for a fresh link.

Spot a statement that didn't arrive

You don't have to open the tab to know. When the latest statement didn't reach every recipient — an address bounced, or nobody was sent it — the Statements tab carries a not sent flag.

The Overview tab also names the latest statement at the bottom of the hours card: Latest statement: with its period, then Sent or Not sent, and a View link that opens the Statements tab. A statement counts as Sent once every address of its latest send was sent or delivered.

Preview the current period

Click Preview current period to see the statement for the period that's still open, from its first day up to today. It's marked Preview — not issued: its figures change until the period closes and the statement is sent. A preview isn't sent to anyone and has no CSV.

Preview works even while statements are off, so you can check what a client would receive before turning them on.

Can I change a statement?

No. A statement stays exactly as it was sent. Fix the time or the balance instead, and the change appears on the next statement under Adjustments to earlier periods. See What a statement of hours shows.
